Overview

Due to the tireless guidance of Andy Plane and the coaching of popular club professional, Steve Harrison, Eden Golf Club Junior Section has continued to thrive and produce some outstanding junior golfers in its 12-year existence.

The facilities are excellent with a modern, covered driving range and a separate practice area with features to cater for the full range of short game requirements. By 2007 there will be a further 9 challenging holes added to the course. Supported by generous sponsorship and backed by an enthusiastic and dedicated committee, the Eden Junior Section looks forward to yet another great season.

In 2003 the section was honoured with the coveted Junior Golfmark Award by the EGU/ELGA. This award is valid to the end of 2006 when we hope it will be renewed.

Andy Plane retired at the end of the 2004 season and John Smith took over in 2005 as Junior Organiser. Andy will be a tough act to follow but he has accepted the role of Junior Section President so will remain to keep his expert eye on proceedings!

In conclusion, the club always has room for more junior members and runs 'taster' sessions on Saturday mornings for prospective members. The purpose is so that parents can 'try before they buy'. Their children will be given introductory lessons designed to test their potential before committing to full membership. A special welcome will be given to any girls who wish to try golf. Inexplicably there is a nationwide shortage of young girls in the game and prospects are good for any who take a committed interest in golf at this time.
